ArtBarn Theatre presents Smoke
on the Mountain, a musical adventure, written by Connie Ray
& conceived by Alan Bailey, 7:30 PM. The year is 1938. It's Saturday
night in Mount Pleasant, NC, & the Reverend Oglethorpe has invited
the Sanders Family Singers to help him provide an upliftin' evening of
singin' & witnessin'. More than two dozen songs & hilarious stories
from the more or less devout singers provide an entertaining evening that
will have audiences clapping, singing, laughing & cheering.

Join 27 Osceola High School students as they present their findings after participating in the week-long Heifer International Global Passport program, where they experienced hunger & poverty, as millions in the world do. Students will present in various forms: artwork, music, technology. Free will donation to benefit Heifer International | ||
| May 7 | The B.O.W.L. Project: 7th Annual Empty Bowls Event, Osceola High School Commons, doors open at 5 PM. Over 500 Osceola students involved! Donate a minimum of $10 & receive a pottery piece made by Osceola students. Rice meal served at 5:15 PM, presentation in OHS auditorium at 6 PM. T-shirts, silent auction of artwork and raffles. Let your pottery bowl be a reminder of all the Empty Bowls in the world. All proceeds benefit Heifer International & Osceola Open Cupboard. | ||

Each activity is an opportunity to learn something new, improve a skill,

Week 1 JUNE 2-6: Moving Forward: This Land is Your Land This week campers will be traveling, camping & creating art at different parks across the United States: Pennsylvania, home of the Liberty Bell; South Dakota's Mount Rushmore; the Great Lakes; an American coastline; New York’s Niagara Falls as well as the volcanoes of the Hawaiian Islands. Week 2 JUNE 9-13: Looking Backward: Traveling Back in Time This week all fair maidens & knights are transported back to the glory, chivalry and valor of Medieval Times designing & creating crowns, castles, family coat of arms, & prints while defending their domain & slaying dragons. Week 3 JUNE 16-20 Moving Forward: Traveling to the Outer Limits Before rocketing off to outer space to encounter alien forces, campers design & create transporting rockets, helmets & airpacks. Week 4 JUNE 23-27 Moving Forward & Looking Backward: You Are The World Campers recognize the international celebrations of the Day of the Dead, Chinese New Year, Carnivals, May Day, & everyone’s personal favorite—birthdays! ActCamp 2008
July 14-25 Replacing ArtBarn’s traditional children’s musical this year, ArtBarn ActCamp 2008 offers two weeks of theatre camp experiences, 9 AM-noon. This camp focuses on aspiring young thespians, ages 8 through high school, exploring movement, vocal expression, character development, auditioning, rehearsing & theatre games. In addition to focusing on performance, campers are exposed to basic technical theatre including stagecraft, lighting, sound, costuming & makeup. No prior theatre experience is needed. The camp culminates with evening performances of The Gillygaloo, July 25-26 & July 31, August 1 & 2 at 7 pm. Two-week camp fees are $100 for ArtBarn members with a tax-deductible $35 family membership; $150 for non-members. Have you
