Dearest Barb,
When I close my eyes I
see your face
Your hair of wonder,
your eyes of grace.
And looking deeper, what
I find--
is innocence and
love so kind,
not thinking of
self, but only of me,
concerned that
your faithfulness I'd see.
When I open my eyes I
see your face
Your walk about our house
with grace.
Yet, looking deeper,
what I find--
each step so purposeful,
so kind:
each day you serve
our family well,
each child knows
your love is real,
each task is done
with tender care,
each moment spent
as if in prayer.
I see you, but not as
others see you
Alone I've come to know
the real you.
Some may know you in
black and white,
Others in colors gleaming
bright.
But the best facets of
your love are shown
When home with me and
all alone--
the secrets that
alone we share,
the burdens that
alone we bear,
the prayers that
no one else will know,
the passions that
we will not show.
No one in this world I'll
ever find--
who fills my heart
and soul and mind,
who gives me joy
beyond compare,
whom I could give
my love to share.
There's nothing anyone
could do
To ever take the place
of you!
Your loving
husband, Ken
