In the instant that I saw doe
standing in front of me with 
her two month old fawns
next to her

My mind flashed back to
memories of seeing her lie
for many days under a huge 
pine tree

Now the fruits of her 
labor stood, still wobbly
legged

But jumped and kicked
up their heels around my yard
like already experienced
children
