Felix the old black cat
nibbles on chives
then slowly moves on
to the cat-nip to sweeten
his breath and his mood.
 
He rolls about the plants 
and seductively brushes 
his head up and down
the length of thin stems.
 
Now even slower, he snuggles in at the base
wrapping front and back legs around it 
as if it were a comfortable pillow
and naps in autumn afternoon sun
as a cool, soft breeze gently ruffles his fur.
