First real cold
Doe nervously paws
at iced over snow
Her breath rises out
of flared nostrils
ears twitch, first one 
then the other

Brown eyes stare into mine
They are eyes I want to trust
But, the feeling is not mutual,
she snorts and jumps to one side
I have just been reminded of my
place in her world

I am saddened by this reminder
for a part of me feels clumsy in both
our worlds and I am unsure of
the order of things
