Her ashes cast-out into the river
Some are caught by the autumn wind
coming to rest on me, a final embrace
The remainder fell to the loamy-soil of
this splended forest

Silver/gray skies contrast to
black/leafless trees except
a memory of summer greens
are left behind in all the pines

Only in nature can death and 
rebirth happen again and again
when her ashes settled to the earth

I wittnessed mother's rebirth in
the flowers and greens many seasons later

I plucked a dried rose-hip from her
resting place and put it between my teeth,
biting it in half, I tongued the seeds and tasted its bitterness
Now she lives on in me
